Long time no write eh? I was totally in a funk and uninspired to write about anything. Plus the holidays are insane (though I stopped writing before the holidays….shhh it’s in the past. We won’t talk about it anymore).
There was one thing that piqued my interest though. I saw Thataylaa’s video on the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter foundation, and in that she mentioned how the ingredients aren’t the greatest for her acne-prone skin. Now if you remember from my skincare post I was starting to look at ingredients more. What really goes on your face? She linked to one site that you can see the breakdown of each ingredient.
After that, I went one a spree on basically started looking at all these foundations and how they could be effecting my skin! I have sensitive skin and do tend to break out. What the heck am I putting on my face?!
I started making a list for my own reference, but thought that all makeup lovers (or people who just wear foundation) would be interested in this information.
Now this isn’t a “be all, end all” for wearing foundation. There are definitely exceptions to the rule. Everyone has warned me about the pore-clogging dangers of coconut oil on the face. I, luckily, haven’t had any problems with it. *as I lather my dry, winter skin with a bunch of coconut oil* However, I do notice breakouts when I use too many products with silicones in the them. Everyone’s skin is different and will react differently to different ingredients. I am more so concerned with the safety element on the list. Which is why I included what it is.
I hope with this post you can pay more attention to what you’re putting on your skin (it’s delicate!). Living in the city, I already get exposed to the toxins in the air here. I have a full view of downtown, and smog is not pretty. I don’t exactly want to put more things on my face that aren’t doing it good (especially since I’m wearing foundation for 8 hours a day).
I have made a list of the top 5 popular foundations and their rank based on analyzing the ingredients on COSdna.com. I have basically just added all the acne, irritating or safety-concerning ingredients on the list and then added them together to make the rank (I want to be as transparent as possible).

Let me know if you like this top 5 format or if you want me to link to a Google Docs that I will update. Or if you hate this table format, let me know and I can make it a list!
Are you surprised by these? Will this change your wearing/buying habits? I’d love to know!
Peace guys. If you like this I’ll do a concealer version next…
